Reflective Dairy for this half

Week 6
This week had mostly been about researching and collected information as we are both new to this brief we just want to set a clear path, both of us and really excited to be designing something around children.

Week 7
This week Sarah and I have just been trying to find lots of inspiration and create lots of ideas. Also to get ready for interim next we, we feel we have a couple of potentially idea that we want to show.

Week 8
INTERIM PRESENTATION
Got really good feedback from a bunch of people Sarah and I have looks to think about. Really need to think clearly about the 'connect' part of our project. And to talk about if a book to talk home it the best solution. Also at the moment we haven't clearing decided where we want the project to sit in time, wether it be before or after an earthquake - something to think about in the next few weeks.
This week we decide on characters and have started to design some of the things we thing we will be using

Week 9
Another exchange moment this week there was only a few people that turned up which was annoying but also I couldn't stay for long as a had to meet my client for enterprise. Did have enough time to see what everyone was doing but nothing really said to help advance my work more everyone just talk about what they had been doing in class.

Week 10
Prototyping session this week was extremely helpful for we firstly and luck Lee had lost the person for her time slot so we go her to come and give us some feedback. Secondly Mark was the person we got signed up with and it was really interesting talking to someone that hadn't heard anything about our project at all. Lastly Gina from life hack gave us some great information and feedback and when talking to her we talk more about if it was going into a real setting what would we have to think about.

Week 11
This week I have been trying to finish up the posters, rewards. For the posters we have decide to do a series for each bird were it shows the parent and child - so this involves the parents and starts a convocation at home. Also this week I have been focusing on the dossier, completing it so we can print and not have to worry about it close to presentation. Friday class was really interesting the ex change moment was awesome to see the near complete projects. Everyone projects are so amazing!!


Week 12
This week Sarah and I have just been refining and organising our presentation, we are feeling confidant in our work. In Tuesday class we did an impromptu presentation to other group, in which we got great feedback and then from their we wrote that out what were were going to say. I took charge in a lot of the writing and I am extremely happy with it. Writing for me is very much a weak point but I didn't wont that to hold our team back and I feel I did very feel. Sarah has been crazy busy making screens and organising out interactive story.

Late night Thursday Sarah and I wanted to practice our speech till we felt comfortable. I think we both feel great in the way we presented and we said what we needed to. Some of the presentation were incredible!!

Week 12

Presentations today was amazing. Listening to how far people came was so inspiring and there was definitely some stand outs but the over all standard was very high.

• Grab research from first dossier
• Adapt info and tell how that is incorporated into your project
• Poster “Is your little kea prepared” – Add onto earthquake safety handouts
• Make challenges relevant to real life situations e.g. “I can’t find Mum and Dad”
• What to do in that situation?

• Explaining the metaphor: Kiwis can’t fly away (which means we need to prepare the us kiwis to handle an earthquake)
• Look at children who haven’t experienced earthquakes v.s. who have
• Talk to child physcologist about how young kids deal with trauma
• Prevention of short term and long term harm 
• Age group currently: 5-8years
• What type of language do we need to use?
• How much does the brain develop between this particular age group?
• Ask parents about if they would put their children/child through this online experience and pay for it?
• Can there be a take home checklist that covers home safety for earthquakes?
• “Now your kea is home safe, make sure your home is safe too.” 
• End of the story.
• Aim: Raise awareness and change their behaviour

Setting the sence

We decided to create illustrations that are vector based then used textured clipping masks to create more depth. Sarah will be making the birds in the same way.

Children Development.

Developmental Milestones

Middle childhood brings many changes in a child’s life. By this time, children can dress themselves, catch a ball more easily using only their hands, and tie their shoes. Having independence from family becomes more important now. Events such as starting school bring children this age into regular contact with the larger world. Friendships become more and more important. Physical, social, and mental skills develop quickly at this time. This is a critical time for children to develop confidence in all areas of life, such as through friends, schoolwork, and sports.

Emotional/Social Changes

Children in this age group might:Show more independence from parents and family.
